Just to question why your fitting a 500watt halogen flood, some wholesalers have already stopped stocking them replaced by 400watts and with future plans of phasing them out along with filament lamps, a nice bright 150watt metal hallide might be a better option here and more energy efficient and a little better for future proofing.
Ahhh! just read 'security' light so assuming its PIR controlled in that case i havent been successful in finding a fitting that matches a 500w flood for quick instant light on detection well except the over-rated led floods that are good for a doorstep light.
