I have a Salton Mini Oven with one 8 inch and one 6 inch solid plates. The 6 inch plate has stopped working and I went and got a new plate from ARB today but when I got home, I realized the new plate has 4 connecters numbered 1, 2, 4, 3 where the old one only had 2 (Live and Neutral). I assume one of the connectors will be for Neutral and the other 3 for Live for different heat settings. I Googled but can't seem to find info anywhere on which connector is the Neutral one. Can someone advise me on how to do the wiring. The new plate is 1000W and the old one was only 500W. I only really need it to work on 500W heat.

The 4-wire hob plates are for use in stoves that have the 6 position rotary cam switches like the Defy stoves. If your Salton stove plate only had 2 wires you need to get a replacement plate that also only has 2 wires. Take the incorrect new plate back to ARB with the old plate as a sample and and ask them to swap it for the right one. Builders Warehouse, Makro etc also stock stove plates although I'm not sure if you have branches of them in Pietermaritzburg.
