I've now got "65kW to go" going round my head to the tune of

busy week ahead, so we're off to grimsby to make a start today.

I hope everyone else is busy too, fingers crossed for a good rest of the year, and good weather this week please.

doesn't exactly help when the panels don't arrive until 2.30pm partly due to the driver driving up and down the road we were on in Grimsby looking for a warehouse or office called 'Leeds Solar' rather than the market address we'd actually given them, then can't find the key for the forks (we'd requested tail lift).

given that our team had been up since 6am, they weren't too impressed with that, still I think we're on track.

Usual appalling service from a solar supplier today.

Ordered the equipment on Thursday to be delivered on Monday morning. For one reason or another, the order didn't go through and it only left the depot this morning. Even after this let-down, we were told the equipment would be leaving the depot at 6am sharp. Calculated an 8:30am delivery as likely, we made sure we were there. An hour later and after checking where the delivery was, we were told that the driver left at 7am - straight into ****** rush hour. Eventually turns up at 11:45am. Driver tells us he left the depot at 8:30am.

Fuming. We missed our brief window of clear weather and had to install in rain. We had extra labour in as we were planning on starting a second job in the afternoon.

As usual, our reasonable plans have been messed up by third parties.

You'll have to give us a try next order Chris!
:)

They give us free delivery (or at least they did) which made things pretty competitive. They've now started charging us though so we're evaluating it again.

We are doing a Solar Edge job at the moment. 6 panels on the main house roof, 4 panels on the hipped side of the main house and 5 on the extension. The scaffold is resting on the extension.

We fitted the 10 panels on Monday and asked the householder who preferred to use his own scaffolder to get the scaffold removed on either Tuesday or Wednesday so that we can return on Thursday to complete the installation.

Guess what... I was called at 9pm this evening to be informed that the scaffold is still in place. We plan to be there at 8am tomorrow morning to fit the remaining panels.

I've never understood this to be honest. If delivery is stated as "free" it just means it is added on to the net price. No PV wholesale company enjoys high enough margins to give ÂŁ100 or so away with every order for long, as proven here.

Our delivery charges vary depending on the size of the package and the service level required. We can send our pricing matrix to customers and the whole process is completely transparent. We put no mark up on delivery costs which to my mind has to be better value in the long term and more trustworthy than trying to take the money back on product prices elsewhere.

3.6kWp to go.

well, sort of. Still got to finish commissioning the 50kWp system in the morning that we've just done, as the light went just before I could get onto the lap top to adjust the settings.

I agree, the cost of delivery needs to be put back on somewhere. But this did still make them more competitive than other firms.

Solarcity- i dont suppose this was Rexell (natural Sparx)? I have similar problems 4 times! with 3 wasted days i gave up in the end.

Indeed it was. They let us down on three deliveries and to make it worse they lied about what time the delivery left the depot.

I don't mind installing in the rain. I just don't like doing it if I've been sat in the van for four hours looking at a clear and bright sky waiting for a delivery to turn up in the middle of a storm.
