Hi Lads,
You might think i'm a di*k already from the forum title but I desperately need some help. I've got a small business and if I wasn't skint, i'd obviously have an electrician come to advise me. I added some kitchen equipment to the warehouse - most of the equipment can plug in to the standard 13 amp sockets that are already installed. All apart from one - an essential 6kw pasta boiler. I'm desperately hoping that there may be a simpler way than having a separate socket installed on its own fuse. To do that, i'd have to seek permission from the landlord (takes them 3/4 months) and i'd obviously pay handsomely because the socket is about 40 metres from the fuse box. I did some reading on DIY forums and a few mentioned a converter like this... (im not allowed to enter the ebay link but the title of the item is '6000W Caravan Converter Power Inverter DC 12V to AC 230V 240V 4 USB LED 3 Socket' plugged into the 13 amp socket, but I cant see how that would work?? Any thoughts? Greatly appreciated!!!

6KW is roughly 26 amps, so you can see it's never going to work from a 13 amp outlet.

The invertor mentioned takes 12V from a battery and converts to 230V AC. However, even with it being rated at 6kW, it could not provide 6kW from an individual output. It will likely have a few 13amp outlets, and 6kW is its total capacity across all it's outputs.

You're going to need an electrician to install a specific circuit for you.

Hi - sorry, but your 6kW pasta boiler will need need wiring changes. I would try asking the Landlord if you can engage an Electrician so you can crack on with your business and earn the money to pay the rent. They may be fine as long as it’s done properly.
