3.5mm pin cutter is a brilliant feature, got the combi 3s myself, can't seem to make sense of the wire bending anvil though. Also, after using a colleagues bahco snips my cks didn't seem half as sharp as his and the pointed tip of the bahcos work really well.

Old bachos tended to be good, the current batch out there are appalling.

If you are wanting CK feedback, one of my fave pieces of kit in my tool kit are my two CK adjustables.

Use them dozens of times each day and have done for years. They are still in better condition than most adjustables new.

I liked the feel of the combi cutters.
The patress screw cutter was invaluable.
But tbh they went blunt too quickly and the stripper notches got in the way.
bending anvil is good in theory but too awkwardly placed.
would be better to ditch the stripping notches and repalce 1 of them with a notch for bending.

bought a pair of aws side cutters with stripping, crimping and bending notches because it was all I could get at the time.
They are completely useless they try and do too much all I want is a pair of side cutters that also cut m3.5 screws occassionaly and last more than 3 months.

would happily pay a premium for a pair that lasts

One extra I could use on cutters is the solution to this problem.

99% of the time I am cutting copper, therefore want a sharp blade.
Occasionally I want to cut the steel braid off SWA or want to trip a SWA strand that didn't saw well.

Most sparkies use the same cutters for both and get used to using blunted cutters (and for some reason don't realise that steel blunts any cutters whatever the price).
They show me their fancy CKs with a trashed blade and say they are great.

My solution is I have a pair of cutters for copper, and a separate pair for steel.

If you could find a solution for that you might get my money. Would love to try a pair at the moment, but just can't justify that price for a tool I consider a consumable.

I like my CK cutters but why keep putting in all the extra holes
They stripped and bent all my cables previously when i needed them to with out all the need for the "extra"

I go through around 5 pairs a year and mostly due to them going blunt (and very rarely when they get a great big hole in them)

you have just explained the reason why NOT to buy ck cutters 5 in a year thats £100 + i have knipex that i have had for 18 months used every week

Thanks everyone - Just for fun, If you had the best sidecutters in the world, what would they do?

1) come with some instructions on how you are supposed to use the wire bending bit. I still can't work it out.....
2) have the features of the combi 3 but still allow you to cut 2.5mm2 and bigger without taking two bites at it.
3) a proper point to make it easier to nibble at things.
4) Handles that are slightly more apart when closed. Somehow I always feel I am about to drop them and i have small hands.
5) not pinch your finger in the bits behind the hinge

Apart from that (and the fact the the hinge is already getting loose after a few months) I like my combi 3s :lol:

Seriously, a cutter that is comfortable, stays sharp and has the 3.5mm screw cutter is all I need. Perhaps a single stripper notch but only if it doesn't get in the way of cutting.

Looking at the price it will be a long time before I try a set but your screwdrivers are good I get my baho snips reasonably cheap and they take some beating but if I win a pair you never know I may be converted lol
