Last time I did that ended up with 4meters of cable coiled up in the downstairs bathroom through tiles imported from Italy. (nightmare) lolrare i do that.
1. burst brick on outside difficult to repair.
2. finding a course is easier drilling from outside.
3. only drill from inside if i can't measure position. then i run a 10mm through first to mark, then bigger drill from outside.

if the mortar is very hars, you can use plugs for the nail clips. drill 4.5mm SDS, 1" deep, push in plug. nail.
