Mr Cockburn, I have read your posts with varying degrees of amazement and amusement. Obviously you believe, despite industry accepted standards which have been proven, that you are correct.
How then do you answer your critics in the IET, an organisation which I'm sure deserves respect, who in their review of your book state that you are either "An individual with a deep and unfathomable sense of humour or a dangerously deluded fool"

Trev I believe that the man in question has got mental issues and for that reason I'm not going to reply to any of his posts again. He is beyond the tittle of Troll, this goes deeper I think. I'm out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy his Book, 5 May 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: An Illustrated Explanation of Earthed Equipotential Bonding (Paperback)
My earlier review has been removed.

A shame, because in it I warned of its potentially dangerous, ill-informed contents.

This book, at a mere 13 pages does not represent value for money and in its semi-literate way could even be considered a trading standards violation, being unfit for purpose.

Amazon should be very wary of entertaining charlatans and removing an honest and informed review may leave potential purchasers unable to make an informed choice.

There are so many errors in this book, and is giving out dangerous advice! It doesn't even look like this was proof read as the grammar is appauling.

It would appear that the author does not have a grasp the subject. Before you buy this book, I suggest you look at the "Introduction" in the preview to give you an idea of what the rest of the book is like.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mis-Informed......., 13 Jun 2010

This review is from: An Illustrated Explanation of Earthed Equipotential Bonding (Paperback)
Having read this publication 5 or 6 times now, I am truly amazed by it's inaccuracies and terrible use of un-informative and misplaced "jargon".

It only serves to waste the paper on which it is printed, the author should be ashamed.Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

This review is from: An Illustrated Explanation of Earthed Equipotential Bonding (Paperback)
When I was first sent extracts from this book, I thought it was a total wind up!

It is full of technical errors, spelling mistakes, poor punctuation and the writer does not have a clue what he is talking about.

How on earth did this get published?

Little knowledge is a very dangerous thing.

Simply dangerous.Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

This book demonstrates that the author has no understanding whatsoever of fundamental electrical principles. Purchasing this book would be a complete waste of money and would hinder the progress of anyone starting out wishing to understand this subject !Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

1.0 out of 5 stars Woeful waste of paper, 25 Jun 2010

This review is from: An Illustrated Explanation of Earthed Equipotential Bonding (Paperback)
Where does one start? The author seems to demonstrate a deep and fundamental lack of understanding of even basic electrical principles. The terminology used is frequently incorrect, inappropriate, or just misleading. The few factual bits it does manage to capture are often net even compliant with the 17th edition of BS 7671 (the wiring regs). So in summary if you want to understand this (not particularly complicated) topic, I would suggest starting anywhere but here!

It appears to be a self published work and it shows, with poor editing, copious errors, and very poor grammar.

I only gave it 1 star as there was no option for none!Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

1.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!, 11 July 2011

From a technical point of view this book is appalling, and I too cannot work out whether this is all just an elaborate joke. Although a mere 13 pages, the author has managed to cram in more spelling, grammar and technical errors than I ever thought was possible.

The first time I read this book I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe! I showed this book around at work, and I am clearly not the only person who thinks this book is laugh out loud funny. Any qualified electrician reading this book will be shouting `what the ****?!' at every page. As this book is not found in the comedy section, it gets the lowest rating available: one star.

As well as the bizarre earthing arrangements suggested, the author appears obsessed with the notion of frayed flexes coming into contact with radiator pipes. There are several diagrams showing this, all of which appear to have been hurriedly drawn with Paint or similar software, not what you would expect from a published piece.

The author regularly misuses electrical terms and adds a lot of jargon, I assume to appear knowledgeable, but it is quite clear the author has a very limited understanding of the subject he is writing about. The bits of information that are taken from the regs books, appear to be taken from previous, obsolete versions. I gave up trying to edit my copy of the book as there were just too many errors. I was running out of space to fit all the corrections. As such, this book should be used for entertainment purposes only.

I could add more details to this review, but I don't want it to end up longer than the book itself. For the limited information and huge number of errors, this book is not worth the money at all. How disappointing.Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

From one of the reviews - "There are so many errors in this book, and is giving out dangerous advice! It doesn't even look like this was proof read as the grammar is appauling." LOL bit of irony there.

They are self published books.
You don't honestly think for a moment that any half decent publisher would unleash this stuff on the world!

C'mon guys please don't belittle and ridicule other members no matter what their beliefs may be. Mr Cockburn may be in a minority regarding his bonding techniques but I believe he's serious and genuine if somewhat technically incorrect. I'd rather see the technical issues were up for debate rather than his character....just taking the pi$$ doesn't sit well with me and going by Mr Cockburn's track record I doubt it will deter him from the path he's on.
