Hi All

This might be a dumb question but it occurred to me after having done my training that my understanding of the AC isolator location is not quite correct if the PV system was placed (say) on a garage roof.

So, from the inverter, I have an AC isolator to the garage consumer unit from the inverter. The inverter will be placed next to the garage consumer unit.

My question is, do I need a second isolator at the main house consumer unit which feeds the cable to the garage cu?

I can understand that if an inverter were placed in an attic (for instance) then a second is needed at the main consumer unit (as training course states) but in the 'double' consumer unit scenario, switching off the supply at the main unit still gives rise to a voltage supply from the garage cu/pv system.

Thanks for your help and as this is my first post, sorry if a dumb question.

Mike

Hi Mike, a single isolator in the garage is all that is required. Make sure you put a 'dual supply' sticker next to the CU in the house.
