AC Supply + Dimmer switch

O

OhmSweetOhm

Hi all, first post on here so hello!

Two things...

First of all, I'm going to do my first job by myself on Monday. I'm told it's a couple of 15 metre runs in a shop for what I'm guessing are 2 AC units. Am I right in thinking that all AC supplies are pretty straight forward all the same in the sense that an armoured is ran from the board to an isolator and then from the isolator to the unit?

Secondly, probably simple to you all but I've never even picked up one to have a look never mind connect one. How do you wire a dimmer switch? It's a remote/touch dimmer if that matters at all.

Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks for the comments.
Probably the glanding the cables into the board spinlondon. This was the first time I have actually ever glanded cables into a board which is there to stay so I was trying desperately to not make any mistakes which no doubt cost me time. It was kinda awkward too because the cables were ran in trunking but I had to drill 20mm holes through the side of it and bring my 2 cables out due to the entry point of the board being full. This left me with 20cm of the cable at most to play with while trying to gland it off.

As Spin says, "speed comes with experience" So true.
When I was an apprentice my mentors used to say - over and over - do it right, do it right, do it right, and eventually the speed will come.

Apologies for the 'joke' comment jamiec_91. From the OP it sounded as though you had very little idea of what you needed to do and was a bit out of your depth. From following this post that is obviously not the case and can see that my first comment was very unhelpful to you and I'm sorry mate. If someone had replied to one of my genuine questions like that I would have felt annoyed too. As for the length of time it takes to do things, I have a lot of sympathy. I am relatively new to the job having re-trained and I too worry sometimes about how long things take me to do sometimes as I like to things properly and be happy with the job I've just done. Like others have said, my bosses just tell me to take my time and do it right. What feedback has your boss given you about your day?

do'nt be put off by taking longer than expected. when i glanded my first SWA ( many years ago) it took forever as i wanted to be sure i'd got it right. even then i'd stripped it about 1/2" too short and had to do a bit of tugging to get it fixed in. the main thing is you've done the job correctly, and nobody's got to go back . speed will come with practice.
