Accident at work becarefull out there

Just what i didnt want , and it happend ,use a working platform they say ,well if i was using steps i wouldnt have ended up in casualty requiring 5 stiches to my abdomen ,what happend i slipped off the steps and caught my abdomen on the hook for the platform which cut a nice 2" gaping wonde in it ,stiched up but hurts like hell , just a warning guys take it easy out there and use common sence it only takes a split second and the rest of the day could end like mine or worse !!!!

Hope your OK but expect a visit from the HSE as it will have to be reported under RIDDOR so write down what happend for when they come calling

Happens to us all,no matter how careful....I fell off a ladder the week after doing a working at heights course....not at work,round a mates house.....but one of the essentials we learnt on the course was never trust a ladder you havent put up yourself....must have nodded off at that point

Morning chaps thanks for all your best wishes , to day i feel like ive been kicked by a donkey ,feel a bit of an --- realy simple mistake ,missed my footing and fell 3 ft down thats all , and enought to put me off work for a couple of days and taking care when im back ,stitches out next week , it was a working platform with a small ladder attatched with scaffold planks on the top ,i missed the top step and my abdoment caught the hook that holds the scaffold planks in place 1" lower and i could well have lost my todger lol phew close , but all im saying to any one now is ive had a cizarian as im always commenting on my belly as me being pregnant ,lol.

HSE side wasnt cutting any corners ,just an unavoidable accident ,i always wear safety shoes ,proper clothing ,and saftey harnesses when needed , its my first real accident in the 40 years ive been working yes ive had a few black nails and cuts but im very safety conciouse ,one of the biggest problems i can see is trying to go over the top with hse could cause more accidents in the future as people could well rely on what they are given and no see the dangers , all steps ladders scaffolding etc are perfectly safe as long as they are used correctly and for the purpose they are designed for , stanley knives are also quite safe if used correctly how many cuts have been cause by the incorrect use , realistically what is needed is proper training for the correct use of these itmes ladders knives and this should reduce accidents how many people are given a set of steps and tools with no training loads of people simple
im all for health and safety but with out compromising the common sence of people
just think guys if you see anything thats doesnt look right and unsafe report it , i have in the past refused to work on scaffold when it was covered in rocks when i pointed it out i was given a can of pledge and a duster ,, i cant repeat what i said on here as ill be chucked off

so guys just take it easy out there if what i have said stops a single one of you guys getting hurt or injured then ill be happy
