What is your opinion on these little items? I agree they can speed up the process if you're testing quality items fitted at each point of utilisation but throw in some poor quality or dated goods and my experience has proved that I just cannot place too much faith in the results they provide.

I do not have the complete set, just the socket adaptor but I have also used the bayonet lighting adaptor too and if it was mine it would have been kicked down the ruddy garden and that was testing brand new kit lol

Todays results were so different I had no alternative to ditch the adaptor on any of the existing outlets and test at the terminals to obtain spot on results. The brand new MK stuff that I had fitted in the kitchen was fine however.

But is it not the case that the issue is with the socket and not the adaptor , I'v had this often usually because the socket is seldom used or with one thing plugged in for ages, also the terminals can get crappy after a while especially the cpc, I have a kewtech socket adaptor and a set of socket and see lighting adaptors and I think they are a great idea ,

I think knowing what result you would expect covers this question, if your happy with the kit and trust it functions ok at the time of test i don't see a problem. if an unexpected reading comes back there must be a problem which needs looking further into.

As others have said I think when I've had results that were different to what I expected the fault has been with the socket or light fitting rather than with the tester. When I was doing my training we had the same issue with the training boards and often had to flick switches repeatedly to get R1+R2 values lower. It made me think that there must be a lot of sockets in houses where disconnection times aren't actually being met because of dirty switch contacts.

PB1 So true, even slackening off and retighening socket terms can sometimes half the cont readings although if the readings raise an eyebrow I usuall head to the van for a box of sockets unless of course they are brushed satin with black inserts or some other faddy fittings then you have to go and try to expain to a bemused customer that his readings are high but you MAY be able to sort it by taking them off and refitting them, but if not then bla bla bla, always sounds like a con no matter how you put it

That is very cool. It would be the end user software that would make that the absolute king.
