Advice invited re: 4kW system with string or micro inverters

How wide are the felt sheets? I can't see how the cables will be long enough to come in between the folds without extending them.

All of the cables are being extended where necessary. In most cases the extensions are no more than a metre or two. There is a bit of the roof where it isn't possible to get inside. For this, longer extensions are being used.

I'm a bit like Biggs, waiting to see what happens with the micro-inverters I've no doubt they are the near future, I'm just not convinced they are for now, but I'm also a bit confused. I'd understood that Enecys had withdrawn all their micro inverters from the market until mid October and were recalling previously installed ones for alteration.

Series350 - are you having a different micro inverter, or have I skim read to quickly - I thought you were in the middle of installation????

Yes, we are mid install - the upper rail and the panels should go up tomorrow.

I'm having Enecys but have agreed to have the panels and the rails installed ahead of the inverters arriving on the understanding that the inverters will ship in mid October. I'm only agreeing to this because the inverters are going to be installed inside the roof and because Enecsys have publicly said that shipping will begin mid next month.

In so doing, our installer maintains some cash flow and I wont have to wait for weeks and weeks in a queue while the installer would otherwise have to do a number of complete system installations ahead of me once the inverters are available again.

I cant say that I am 100% happy with this approach as, if Enecsys further delay, I will have a roof full of panels and the power going nowhere.

One positive in all of this: I would hope that with a review of the product taking place now, what Enecsys ship mid October should be better than the transitional material that was shipping recently.
