Advice needed - Solar Quote

I have signed up for advise on a quote I have received for a Solar System, Details are below

Panels:12
Panel Peak output: 250W
Peak System Output 3KW

Also included in the quote:

PassivSystem
Voltage Optimiser
LED Bulbs (20)

We have been quoted £11,965,00

Location : Manchester

based on the above and your system Price - is this a good buy?

Sounds quite expensive to me, I would have thought it should be a lot less unless there are special circumstances in the installation

and no that's not a good deal, I don't do passive but I'd expect a good 3kwp system to be in the region of 4-5k

Its a Firm Called SolarSon

NPower (Our Electric Supplier) has a 4KW system on there site for £6,900 - Will look at Local Firms for quotes

We currently pay £130 a Month for our Gas Usage - Solarson has said they can reduce this to £40 a Month - How is this done ? -is it even possible to do ?

from my limited understanding passive could help towards reducing your house bills, but I'd be surprised if it could reduce your gas bill to £40/month!

yes look local and ask on here for quotes, there are plenty of trusted installers on here who will provide you with an honest system.

Its a Firm Called SolarSon

We currently pay £130 a Month for our Gas Usage - Solarson has said they can reduce this to £40 a Month - How is this done ? -is it even possible to do ?

We installed Passiv last year to test it for our customers (we don't offer anything that we don't know works) we don't offer it to our customers ................. need you ask more?? If you have natural gas and a combi boiler British Gas do a Passiv alternative for £199/£219 and the Geo Solo is a much cheaper alternative for solar monitoring.

When I had the figures to back up the claims made about this product they were based on approx 30 properties mostly owned by people working for the company and mostly anecdotal. It may be a lot better now, I liked the intention of the company, but for me the figures just weren't there to back it up and we've had quite a few problems with signal dropping out despite having repeaters. Nice gadget when it works - savings minimal.
