Hi,
I'm planning on changing my consumer unit as part of my part p assessment. But the kitchen has been very badly designed. Been like it since I moved in with the other half. At the moment the consumer unit, meter, main service fuse and an isolator are all in a cupboard above a free-standing gas cooker/hob with about 1.3M gap between. So I plan to move and update the consumer unit from the cupboard to above the doorway but that still leaves everything else in the cupboard. Would this be acceptable? Really I would like to get an electric cooker and move it to the other side of the kitchen but the cost would be high as id have to move the sink and have new worktops and a smaller size unit and door.
Any ideas would be nice. I'm thinking the cheapest route for me is to offer a family member a free consumer unit install and have that work assessed and sort mine out at a later date when I have disposable cash.
