The company i worked for just went into administration .
I was all set on trying it alone and have a couple months work lined up, obviously things could change. I have a mortgage, 2 young kids and wife whose not working. Ive had an offer at a mechanical firm who want to start M&E and have offered me jib rate just under ÂŁ16 ph van etc...which is good for my area north wales. No one pays it. Anyone been in a similar situation. Difficult one
Cheers

Heard from a mate up that way about your company, take it its the one beginning with F? Take the M&E job if you have been offered it, quite a few lads to find work.
Thats the one. Falconer Electeicals. I shared an article in the electrians facebook group. I have gone it alone and turned the offer down. Got my insurance sorted etc and will look to going with the niceic asap. Wish me luck

If you have gone it alone ask the M&E firm if they will use you as a subcontractor ....
I asked that when they offered me the job but theu said no... Then when o declined there offer they said we will be intouch for subcontracting work... Tried my bluff. Fair play they wished me well and said its all aboit having the -------s... Ive worked everyday so far and have work for 2 weeks subbying and my own jobs in between then have 1/2 months of my own work secured. Couldnt have started any better. The amount od support i have had has been amazing. I felt with all the momentum and people wanting to help it was a good time.. 4 sparks have offerwd me subby work to fill in my days which will help massively.

Any tips from the sole traders? Useful software etc... I have public Liability sorted etc... Any other insurances required or worth looking at? A hotel has asked me to do the eicrs. Obviously im not registered yet. Am i right in thinking i can certificate(reports not a cert) as its commercial and non notifiable etc also where can i find this in writing so i can show the customer as alot of people are unaware of this?

Thanks.

You can do EICRs if competant on blank sheets without registration. You need to set up your business, get accountant, get a scheme application going. Make sure your PL is for 2 milli and covers the work you are doing. Test kit and calibration. I went on my own in september, the scheme will take about 8 weeks from application to been joined. Clik NIC software is very good although currently having teething problems.
