Advice on quitting?

Don't get me wrong I love this job however my boss is a nightmare. Has no respect whatsoever. I'm not going to work tomorrow and going in first thing to speak with my training provider; has anyone any idea on what will happen In Regards to my funding and course? I got the course when I was 18 so it's fully funded and I know I can change companies with no problem as long as theyre also with the same provider(city training) but don't know whatll happen if I quit?

Ive already told them I want to change companies but didn't really mention why. Just said it was too far to travel and struggle with money(been paid apprentice minimum wage and have been for nearly a year)

Any advice is appreciated

Easier said than done if you're really unhappy.
I'd say 'Tuff it out' in the job, contact the training provider during a break.
Rightly or wrongly walking, with no notice may be seen as unprofessional.
Maybe with some mediation things can get back on track ?

I'm not walking with no notice. Just taking tomorrow to see the training provider on how to progress... After receiving some disrespectful texts I've had enough. If it gets to that I'll hand In my notice. He's already threatened me with handing in my notice for "not working as a team". I see it as being used for cheap labour and I'm sick of it to be honest

If you can stick it out ..then use him for your training time unless something falls in your lap then when you qualify apply and leave him high and dry... you'll feel better knowing you used him as much as he did you... hate bosses who abuse staff mentally or worse

I was thinking that, as well as making him pay for a portion of my pension in 2017
26months is a hell of a long time.. Think it's just got to that point he's already threatened to hand me my notice at that point I was fuming. Close to telling him to do it but with being unsure about my course I thought it best not to react. Complains about paying me minimum wage too... :|

I did 20yrs and walked .... left the whole company struggling to survive, best feeling I ever had. My old boss and his son were complete masturbaters if you get my drift.

I've been thinking about finding a new job for a while now but putting it off, my friend said it's 6-8weeks before you leave the course and even then you can carry on where you left off but I'm not sure how true this is.
My assessor found me this job before he was at the training provider. Then he moved jobs from the college to the training provider. So I'm confident hell do all he can to find me a job after; he's said before how good of a student I am and stuff and I'm sure my tutors are happy to write me a good reference. It's just if the works out there.

Just realised it's 3 years left. Not two. Coming up on my first year of employment and half way through my second year in college(was transferred from a level 1 course and caught up)

Alls I'm saying is continue to box clever, like you appear to be doing.
Make sure everything's in place from your perspective - then you can walk.
It will be easier to put up with disrespect knowing the end is in sight.
You taking the day off - maybe he can use that against you to say you're unreliable.
Do you need to loss a days pay to speak to your training provider ?

Thanks for the advice
And the good thing about being paid peanuts is you lose next to nothing for a day ;)
But I'm sure the training provider will understand that day off for me to try get things sorted asap. If I phone in they may just ignore me or forget. I asked someone from the training provider before about applying for a job when he got back and told my assessor they said they wouldn't send my application through because I was only thinking short term(money)
By showing up in person first thing it'll show them I'm serious?
I'd prefer to lose(or not gain) £25 and get this all sorted.

If I were you I'd start looking for new apprenticeships to transfer to rather than quitting completely. At least that way you won't be out of employment and you'll still be progressing with the course while you find someone better.

Have you tried raising a grievance to get things sorted?

Stick it out until you find something better bud. It's normally a lot easier to find work if you're in work(Don't know why, just seems the way the world works!). Agree with newtothis in respect of not losing out on a day's pay for the sake of a subtle phone call. Whatever you choose to do, good luck mate. Years from now, he'll just be that d**k of a first boss you had before you qualified!

I wasn't going to and just say to the training provider it's too far to travel but now that's the reason I plan on going to them tomorrow

Can only echo other people's thoughts. It's easier to find work whilst in work, and we've all been there bud. I took a job once and after 2 weeks found out what the boss was like - I actually went back to my old job to grovel and ask for it back but they'd already filled the position. In the end I had to stick it out with that boss for 5 months before I could find something new, but I think finding that something new would have been a fair whack harder if I'd chucked the towel in and walked away from that boss.
