In a word yes.

I think the confusion over insurance is that some insurance companies ask for a pir by an niceic firm.
If they do then you would need to be with the nic.

If however they do not specify or you are asked by the house or business owner, then there is no reason that you cannot carry out the work.

mate, personally it will be best to join a governing body, meanwhile order some green certificates from the niceic websites, these are the ones without the serial numbers and start issuing them meanwhile

Hi i'm after some advice. I have my 2391 qualification but little practical experience because the firm i worked for didn't do much testing. I'm looking to concentrate on testing and need practical on site experience to back up my qualification. Any ideas about how to find a firm that will take me on as a trainee tester, i dont mind earning a lower wage at first, gaining the relevant practical experience is whats important to me.
Thanks for any help

1. Test your own place
2, Test your parents (asuming they are different)
3. Do a couple of mates places
4. etc. etc...

In the end its all experiance, dosent matter if they were only done last week, what you are after is the familiarity with the test equipment, sequence of testing and filling in the reports. Do 1 a week on a Saturday morning and youll soon build up a nice portfolio.................
