25, served 4 year apprenticeship working in industrial maintenance, still here doing the same, got my HNC electrical/electronic engineering, looking forward to 40+ more years in the trade!

Lighthouse phil
I worked on lighthouses mainly around the Orkney islands but was on Ailsa Craig too but worked for R. S. Merriman that were responsible for all the lighthouses around Scotland in Orkney I was also on Cantic head , Hoy high and Hoy low , Copansay.

Started 85, 4 years apprenticeship, electrician, technician,engineer,...still at it now...44 soon....

56 and served 4 year apprenticeship with,the then,British coal.
Worked underground for 15 year learning the ropes.
No toilets/no canteen/no fresh water/no light.....no womans drawers to look through......cough ( not that any of you domestic guys would do that of course!).

Ok 67 started in 1959 rate 11pence 3 farthings per hour ,lodge 4 guinea,s per week.Then sparks got a shilling per hour increase (who said communism was bad )top trade in great britain how did it all go wrong?

Started 2006 now I'm 31, done full modern apprenticeship 2391 and AM2 in 2 years on the dot mainly commercial/ industrial, then approved 2 yrs later, now had my own business for last year, best move I bet made love every day!

started when 16 now 39 played in the mud for a while started back properly 2007,started up on my own about a month. apprenticeship what is one of them? i have worked on a few ships but never seen one of those?

Started when I was 16. Now I'm 33. Did full apprenticeship now work for myself and training a new generation up!
Love the job. Hate trying to get my money in!!

44. Trained 18-21, worked full time spark 21 - 33, then retrained as teacher, not done elec. since, considered coming back to it earlier this year but after asking on here and chatting to 3 local sparks I know well decided not to.

28 Started with small electrical firm at 17, then restarted on a five year apprenticeship with a local power station and been there just over ten years now.

Im 28, started taking qualifications at 17, apprentice trained, mix of commercial and domestic experience, moved off the tools a couple of years ago and into project & contract management. Still in the electrical industry, now heading up a team looking after a couple of national contracts on behalf a global technology and energy firm.
