Air Con

Hi chaps

have you ever experienced any nuisance tripping from split air con systems? (Condenser outside / wall fan unit inside)

have a main contractor telling me to connect the units to non rcd ways. Wonder if they tend to be an issue.

Only maybe if they are cheap and nasty units, otherwise there should be no issue with tripping RCD devices. He may be breaching compliance rules, if these condensing unit's are accessible/exposed to touch by the general public, especially if the enclosures are of metal construction!! What does the manufacturers instruction/recommendations say??

Often recommended by manufacturers to fit RCD, BUT I came across 4 that were sharing one in a board and they were taking nearly 4mA of leakage each, so doesn't take many before its a nuisance. Probably best on RCBO, one each

Well that's always been the big drawback in my opinion of these twin RCD 17th edition boards, you always have to be wary of what's going to be connected to them, now and in the future. All RCBO CU's are always going to be the better choice, and you can't get a more high integrity CU than that!! lol!!
