Reading the manufacture instructions for this inline electric central heating heater - it states "a blank must be fitted between each MCB in the consumer unit to provide ventilation" ?!?!?!

It then says On completion of the work the installation must be tested to IEE Regulations and an NICEIC Inspection and
Completion Certificate must be issued.
I must follow manufacture instructions - I'm with a different scheme I cant comply lol

NBP raised an interesting point a while back regarding the positioning of MCB’s. I think it was from the electrical safety council.

Common practice is for the highest rated MCB’s to be located next to the main switch and the smaller at the remote end.

The bus-bar is rated at the full load of the board so positioning isn’t relevant. With the highest rated in a block any heat generated is localised. By alternating sizes heat dissipation should be improved.
It may look good but it’s not necessarily good electrically.
