hello... how long does it take a 2port valve too open???????

doing a heating system last night an plumber said we had to use an original valve at the last minute , he said the loop for dentist had its own pump and had to come on with the valve and to just joint the cables together and take switch wires back just...

but to me this means the pump will be running before the valve opens... is this ok as i know not the normAL

Silly question i take it ...... Oops.

What about this one...

If you have 3 room stats and aint using wiring centre isit ok to treble up in connector block.... And a room stat can be called for independently , i guess yes as power will only travel route being called for...

Feel like there is pile of t&e on top of me trying to work out heating circuits , but i know will come

It's unlikely to damage the pump or valve if the pump runs before the valve is open. I'd say generally about 30 seconds for the valve to open fully.

So say there is 2 pumps on a heating system would you just wire them in parallel(together) plumber said that 1 pump has to come on same time as a z certain zone, but the other pump sorts the other zones out..

The room thermostat should only be used to open the zone valve. Then the contacts on the valve are used to supply the boiler and the pump should usually be supplied from the boiler. So the place to "triple up" is at the switched output of the zone valves.

Hmm. Getting more complicated now. You might have to put in a few relays to switch the correct pump on without back feeding.

if you have diferent pumps controlling diferent zones there should be individuall motorised valves, the back feed can be stoped through these.!! you shouldnt need a relay. what plan is being used.??

its n s plan, one boiler for four zones, dr's, dentist upstairs, flat upstairs and hot water, they both had a timeclock but when upstars was cold , downstairs was hot they had to open windows to release the heat....

so i added 4 channel time clock, room stat to each area, and cylinder stat and a new pump ... so ended up now with two pumps which i had to add relay to switch the dentist heating pump and not use the other 1...

i got it finished today.... quids in i hope

and yes each zone had mortorised valve

How did you wire it so that only one pump came on? I can't understand what the relay is doing here if they are all on seperate zones does the valve not trigger boiler and pump and flow only water to the zone that had opened? I'm intrigued now incase I ever come across this

with difficulty as i nevr used a relay before, i got a guy who knows controls inside out, have diagram out in car he drew for me before i said you do it and il pay you... cant tell you off top of head

i think the situation is 4 zones with 2 pumps... if you came off the zone valve brown (call for heat) into two single contactors with the pump looped accross the bottom and the coil operated off the individual zone call for heat then individual zones could be operated on same pump avoiding backfeed causing other valves to open,!
