i am doing a job and the people that have ordered the materials have made a mess of it. i have got 4 x 3phase DB's, the isolators in these will take up to a 35mm cable, 50mm at a push. i have got 2 x 50mm feeds, a 70mm feed and a 95mm feed going to these. any ideas on the best possible way to fix this. i was thinking switch disconnectors but i still have the problem of a supply going from that to the DB.

cheers.

Assuming that the cable is so large because of volt drop, then reducing pins can be used. They crimp onto the end if the cables and reduce the size. Alternatively, conversion kits for decent makes of DBs can be used. These are usually copper bars bent to allow normal lugs to be bolted onto them.

You could terminate into a suitable size Adaptable box with connectors and providing you drop in CCC is less than 3mts from the connectors to the switch isolators then it should be fine.

Are these the isolators in the panel themselves you could change them to MCCBs that would would give you the right size terminations, but expensive that

You could also get your shaving kit out but best not mention that on an open forum

Bottom line it's their mess up, give them the options and let them sort it out

MCCB's wont fit in to the DB, already checked that option.

thanks though.

thanks for that, i will have a search on the internet to source both options.

thanks

What brand of board have you gone for .... when cables are larger than the standard main switch you will have to get a mccb style front end sw/disconnector or overload device these will easily accomodate the larger conductor size but they are not cheap
