Alteration to existing circuit and new consumer unit

Hey guys
Just need some clarification please. Be gentle.

For additional sockets to existing circuits in a household, upstairs and down and a new consumer unit. First the existing wiring will be in old colours on sockets and to be allowed to use new wiring colours with the old a notice near the consumer unit will cover this stating colours from different regs? (also checking if radial or ring and carry out tests to ensure all comply with loads etc)

On installing the consumer unit do I need to complete a certificate for a new board? Or just alterations. Only reason why I ask if cert is required for whole installation as may find other circuits don't comply and that's not what the customer wants to pay for to pay for circuits they think was OK before I changed the board. Eg lights with no cpc

Thanks guys sorry if hard to read wrote this on my phone lol only just started doing work solo for nicely.

Ideally you'd see if it's a ring or a radial before you start the work, that way you know what you're going to have to reinstate. You'd stick a mixed colour wiring sticker on the CU

This would be on a minor works certificate but you must remember that any circuit you work on has to comply with current regs. You'd also want to check that bonding is present and adequate and the same for the main earth.

A new CU is going to be on an installation certificate with schedules of inspections and test results for all circuits. This is because you're changing the characteristics of all circuits. You're going to do the same with the earthing and bonding on this too.

That's it in a very small nutshell. Was that gentle enough for you?
:)

Yeah thanks fella,

So should I just complete one installation certificate with all changes instead of adding 2 minor as well. If a circuit does not comply e.g no cpc what do I do here fella can I only touch the installation if the customer is prepared to adjust all circuits to meet current regs.

Thank u for advice btw

if you have no cpc on the lighting, then you affix a label on the CU saying so, and only class II fittings/switches to be used.

Ah OK thanks fella,

Should I just complete one whole installation certificate? Stating no cc in earth for earth fault readings.
Also check bonding before as this is required. (probs be in 6mm shall I state needs upgrading to 10mm)

if it's TN-S, probably be OK in 6mm as long as there's no sign of damage.

Ah OK dude, I assumed all bonding from now on is required to be 10mm.
