Was speaking to a mate of mine who used to be a sparky before part p etc, and he qas explaining how when rewiring a property he used to drill from the switch straight up and into the ceiling cavity above with a long masonry bit. He has just done it in his new place and although I am very impressed with how quick and mess free it is, I cant help but think it will be violating zoning regs etc. I have been through the BGB and the OSG and cant really find anything.. what are your thoughts?

I think he may be pulling your wire excuse the pun, to do that he must have a bleeding long flexible drill bit

I will take some pics of what hes done in a bit, then try to figure out how to post them. Drill as steeply as poss from the switch position, the bit poked out in the ceiling abiut an inch away from the surfsce of the next room, if that makes sense. Meter long 16mm bit he used but says he has done it with bigger too..

If it's in the next room it would need to be at a depth of >50mm at a vertical distance of 150mm from the ceiling in order to comply.

Can't get my head around this mate a 4" wall and he's drilling from a switch position, which in most houses that's a lenght of about 1 mtr, what he got a sat nav guided drill
