Hello guys,

i currently hold level 2 2330
level 3 NVQ (EAL)
17th edition (latest)

I know there is more qualifications to gain for testing and even AM2.
but these are not required to gain a JIB Card which suposed to represent a qualified sparky.

Only reason im asking is that im going self employed, i contacted them to go on domestic scheme, do i need to use them?

thanks

if you ask your college they should advise you but i would ask about AM2 and you will need your part P if you are going to do domestic
when you or if you decide to do part P some training centres will make you renew it after say 5 yrs and charge maybe ÂŁ800 ish but for another 3 or ÂŁ400 you can get it for life but someone may verify this and confirm they are getting rid of part P
hope this helps

If you want to sign off your own domestic works which fall under the scope of part pee then you can either join a scam or pay labc a fee every time, the scam is probably the more cost effective option even if it is the best part of 500 notes(grrrrrrrrrrrrrr).

I always think the word 'fully' is pointless when used in this context - you're either qualified, a trainee, or none of the above.
There are 5 week cowboys going around calling themselves 'fully qualified'.

I know things have changed a bit since i was a college but how can you have a nvq3 without AM2?

The AM2 cert was put in with your portfolio the get the nvq3 when i did it.

My question is, do you have the onsite experience to cope alone.? It takes time to gain.

Yea i could do jobs alone and have done, will the LABC allow me to give them test sheets. Does this not require inspection and testing Qualification todo so? Or would i be able todo this? What is the LABC prices?

What I'm trying to say in overall, can i crack on installing and testing on my own without someone slating me saying I'm "not qualified enough" Appreciate the comments guys

edit: i didn't need to complete my level 3, i covered extra units in the nvq because of no level 3 which was ok and i passed.

you could have a nvq 3 and not do AM 2 if you had evidence of past experience but now i think you have to do an am 2 no matter what

The am2 yea was required to complete my nvq but i got a letter from my employer to state i have over 2 years experience. Is this why people needed the am2 to gain the NVQ 3? As i don't think i would need this from now on? What i mean is that this would not stop me from being qualified enough to carry out electrical work? Am i still classed as a qualified electrician without the am2 and inspect and test.

Sorry but that makes no sense to me at all. Level 3 of G&G 2330 is technology biased, where the NVQ 3 is skill/experience biased. In other words a full C&G 2330 is level 3, NOT a part based level 2 qualification.

The last i heard, the JIB requied a full level 3 qualification. The NVQ 3 is an additional qualification, not an in part replacement for the accepted foundation course/qualification in place at the time....

Why don't you just apply to the jib for grading and see what grade they give you?
I doubt they will grade you as an electrician.
