hi everyone, finding this forum very helpful cheers,
just phoned napit and was told i need to attend one of there courses for them to register me.

iv got: 17th edition
: 2330 lv2
: 2391
: pat qualified
: c and g electrical competance

am i wrong in thinking that they feel 2330 lv3 is better than a 2391 qual. will any other company register me with the following quals. i was going to do the lv3 along with nvq3 at the same time at college a year from now. do i need to be full scope to do own work house bashing and sign my work off.

Hi Part P tese days is the EAL VRQ (building regs) 17th edition and register with NICEIC or similar it appears the rest dont count.

Id try someone else as napit apparently also want you to renew your 2391 every 5 yrs according to another thread in this forum.

Chris

Which version of 2391 do you have is it 2391-10 or 2391-20? How can NAPIT ask for you to retake the exam every 5 years? I'm pretty sure that you can not take any C&G exam more than once if you pass...

Part Pee says you need to be "competent",
I had a guy work for me a couple of years ago, I took pity after he told me he had been
layed off twice in 4 months, he had all the qualifications, could do the maths, but hadn't a clue
how to wire a 2 way light switch!

Go with Elecsa, they only ask for 16th/17th as a minimum requirement. But same as all the scheme providers they only want your money..................so dont worry about being qualified in this that and the other, as long as you meet the criteria for membership, and you can prove that you can work safely, and know what you are doing you will have no problems.;)

Cheers.......Howard

i think the 5 year requirement is for Napits own watered down version of 2391 which according to them is equivilent to 2391 (according to me its an insult)

Did they deliberately give it the same course number as City & Guilds or is it just a spooky coincidence? :D:D:D

I found this link regarding the Napit qualification which they call NAP2391:

Edmundson Electrical - NA2391 Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (NAPIT)

Personally I would prefer to have qualifications that are a little more nationally recognised.

good find never knew the course number.

NA2391 Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations is a 3½ Day course.

On completion of the course the delegates will be conversant with BS7671 Part 7, Guidance Note 3, IEE Onsite Guide, Paperwork associated with Electrical Installations and the practical tests associated with that paperwork.
