I have my AM2 Exam tomorrow! Really nervous. Been studying hard. Apparently the boiler system isnt as bad as expected. The problem that will affect me is probably going to be the time issue for the install. Working for maintenance this kind of prevents me from working on installation work. Fingers crossed all goes well. I will note anything that i struggle with to maybe help those or seek help myself lol! any advice for tomorrow will be welcomed :)

cheers.

Hi, they have to give you a choice of cables, so make sure you wire the lighting in 1.5mm (which you had to ask for), as opposed to the 1.0mm sat on the table. I failed initially on that, but got it after appeal. Just be methodical and you'll all do just fine.

Day 1 done.
The install was pretty :O when i first saw what i was working on. I have 2 hours tomorrow to install the boiler (daunting), motor and data cable. Should be able to get that done in the time. Fingers crossed its all ok!

Does anyhow know if you fail a certain section on the install...would you re-sit the whole install bit again or only the thing you messed up on. eg. lighting, boiler etc.

Hi just a message to 'Richard' I just took my AM2 and passed all but the lighting circuit on the install mainly because it was wired in 1.0 the light worked perfectly and the breaker was the correct size I was jus wondering what you did to appeal for it and is it worth me appealing for it also as I will have to resit a whole 8 1/2 hours for a 10minute fix any help would greatly be appreciated cheers

Hi I have just done my second day of the exam and I think I may have failed. I used 3 core flex instead of 4 on the heating so I missed one connection with made it so the hot water did not turn on. Would this be an instant fail or would I just loose marks?

An instant fail would only have been for unsafe or dangerous work. You would know if you had instantly failed, you would have been asked to step away from your booth and leave.

No idea about the marking or how it's weighted, neither do your assessors probably. They just mark their observations and send it off for greater minds to decide your fate.
Chin up, you'll be right :D

Thanks, yes just a bit gutted, my asseser said the installation was really good, went through the functional testing and everything was good then found out the hot water zone valve wouldn't turn on because I used the wrong flex and miss the connection! Just wondered if that would make me fail the installation part? Making Feel sick that I won't know untill next week!
