yep auto test is ok if i recall. you have to fill out a test sheet as you go so the info you will need is written down and asked for infront of you. practise writing them out and completing shedule of inspections too

not in isolation no as youre proving the board is dead. For Ins R if the switch is closed your not testing the whole cable so yes. If your asked to test a circuit for safe iso at the light for example to prove its dead on an otherwise live board then yes you would operate switches to prove its dead
There are various safe isolation items through out the whole test. Unless it's changed, one of them is preparing the lighting circuit for maintenance. During this check you will need to operate the switches to ensure none of the strappers are introducing any unexpected potentials.
