So I've recently had an EICR for my building. Came back with about 20 odd C2 remedials and a few F1's which resulted in UNSATISFACTORY being written on the report which you'd expect. Completed all the remedials and the QS has come back and passed them all off, but will not put SATISFACTORY on the report! Up until mid last year this was always the case and I'd get the SATISFACTORY comment on my paperwork, as I work for the council and they kind of demand seeing it, but this firm wont put this on despite their being no safety concerns at all. Has something changed in the regulations regarding this, as they're telling me they can't amend the original paperwork? Please advise?

Nothing has changed it has always been the case. The Report was unsatisfactory as per the date of the document you can't suddenly change it. You either have a new EICR or you append any certification from the remedial works to the old EICR.

That's interesting. So in your opinion, the previous NICEIC testers were incorrect in re-issuing the cert as SATISFACTORY?

Maybe the installation was satisfactory in the past, but now there is a problem: breakdown of insulation, broken equipment etc that requires repair…
Once those repairs are made, and a certificate covering the repair is produced…. Then the certificate can be appended to the EICR to prove whatever made the report unsatisfactory has been dealt with.

Some unsatisfactory issues can be repaired simply while doing the report… loose cables etc….

Unfortunately, some institutions just demand a satisfactory report… nothing else.

They were indeed incorrect, the same report can't have 2 different outcomes. The report details the condition of the installation at the time of testing.

Any remedial work carried out should be certified with the appropriate certificate. If no certificate applies (eg fitting a blind grommet to a hole) then a written record of the work done should be kept.
