Hello, Could somebody explain why new regs ie non combustable dbs etc. doesn't come in until January and yet Napit have told me to use amendment 3 forms now. I designed an installation 6 months ago and so was really working to old regs, however I have been told to use new forms. As it happens I carried out work to new regs anyway apart from I fitted plastic db in cellar due to damp environment. Finally what about eicr's do I use old ones or new amendment 3 ones? Thanks for any info.

The amd3 regulations came into force from June this year. The only regulation that was not required to be complied with until January 2016 was the non combustible consumer unit requirement.
This was to allow the manufacturers time to accommodate this and produce enough to supply demand.

For all the rest of AMD3 you should have been using the new regulations , Zs values, cable restraints in escape route from June.

Even an installation designed before the new amendment can be, but doe not have to be, adjusted (if required) to the new requirements.
Even so I would still use the new forms to certify the installation, but class as N/A all items that are different.

For EICRs you should be already using the new forms.

Amendment 3, not working yet. I have asked wholesalers for months of who supplies fire rated glands for the new CU's.
Well I have found some, no thanks to wholesalers!
Electrium ( now Wylex and Crabtree) have fire rated semi blind grommets, hoorah!
See there Video, quite good.
Again they change the regs and nobody acts on it till the last moment.
There code is CRCE 1 and CRCE 2 20mm-32mm
Yes it took some finding

You issue finding glands and grommets that are classed as Fire Rated are nothing to do with the manufacturers been slow on the take up but to the fact that the AMD3 does not require fire rated glanding, anyone pushing sales of such glands are just playing on the confusion of the new requirements.
