You have to ask yourself WHY she was, or why people become junkies

People are not born junkies or inherently bad .

I have known junkies in my time and generally speaking you are talking

about people who have been abused. Who think they are $hit and don't

deserve any better. Thats society as a wholes problem.People need

rehabilitation and education . If they go to prison its rife and they come out

and carry on. Junkies are people too. Why is it better that she is dead

Who benefits ?

I think its a lot more inspirational if a junkie turns his or her life around

Thats what I call a role model for kids, because life isn't all about happy

The problem is, when good people are dying of cancer and other disease, it's difficult to find sympathy for others that have made a decision at some point, to inject a substance into their body that is widely publicised to end up as a fatal habit.

I'm not into celebrity gossip, but I do like the music of the likes of Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty and Michael Jackson.
OK they had (or have) dubious personal lifestyles, but IMO that doesn't affect the music they've produced.
If Adolf Hitler or Gordon Brown had written good music I'd like to think I would be free to appreciate their music regardless of how much I dislike them as people and what they've done outside the recording studio.
If you want all entertainers to lead clean-cut lifestyles we'll end up with a load of entertainers like Michael McIntyre, who I personally can't stand - I just find him annoying.

Of course it would be ideal if Amy Winehouse, Kurt Kobain, Michael Jackson et al could have produced the music without the ancillary shady lifestyle, but we don't live in an ideal world.

In my opinion it's a shame Amy Winehouse died, not necessarily for her family and friends because I don't know them and I didn't know her as a person, but because I liked her music which obviously there won't be any more of.

But if you look a little deeper I knew a guy who had been sexually abused

and made to perform sexual acts with other kids whilst in care . So from the

off the people in charge had betrayed his trust . He spent most of his life

in and out of prison with a drug habit. Surely they people like that need our

support and understanding ?

My daughter as just done psychology as one of her A levels and funnily we were talking about abused becoming abusers.

She is of the opinion a child that as been sexually abused can become in later life an abuser, but statistics apparently do not bear this out, the cycle is more often broken than not.

As for Amy Winehouse I'm afraid I didn't particualry like her music, and her even less, though I would imagine that she was surrounded by a motley crew of hanger ons that exploited her weakness in order to survive themselves, a lot like Elvis and Michael Jackson. No-one deserves to die young, but as Rappid points out my heart goes out to those young teenagers in Oslo and thier families rather than Amy Winehouse.
