Annual surveillance visit looming

I am due my annual MCS surveillance visit by Napit in a couple of days so going through paperwork at present. Two quick things:

- I was missing my 2015 RECC membership certificate. I had an email from RECC saying they would collect the direct debit in December, but they failed to do so and I did not realise (no change in my bank details or anything else my end). So nothing was happening. The certificate is about to be emailed to me I hope, but others might also have failed direct debits.

- Has anyone been surveilled recently by Napit? Is there any particular theme they are pressing this year? I am thinking the new competency stuff all looks a nightmare.

Cheerful. Assessment done and dusted in one day with no non-conformities. I was beginning to think I never would get none again after the last 2 visits! I think the assessor and I must have worked out how to handle each other.

We had 2 nc's on our last napit inspection
1) he didn't ask for the info on the visit and out it in as an nc, no issue we had it anyway..
2) he was wrong on, and I 'discussed' during the visit, they later agreed that I was correct and withdrew the nc.
Not sure if he's friend now or not !!

He did that thing again of insisting my handover documentation for ST & HP was to the latest standard (4.1) even though that standard does not come into force for another month! It meant a hasty addition on the fly to a commissioning certificate.

I'm getting bolshy in my old age, seeing as like yourself we seem to have about 10x more real experience than the assessors, so I tend to stand my ground these days, and quote the MCS regs, Manufacturers Instructions and Building Regs back at them.. (Napit need my money and NICEIC would like us to join them anyway )

There's a big cock up going on over competentperson.org anyway

It's mentioned in the MCS Standards, yet the ONLY entries there are for full PartP electricians, no entries for Renewables, Heating, Plumbing etc etc , whereas with Napit we are registered as a 'Competent Person' for loads of activities.

No-one, seems to know how to get the entries up there!! (Competent Person Ltd shares the same address as Napit ) - Try phoning them !!

I never put our last surveillance visit in my diary, was scheduled in october for Jan and I didn't have a jan schedule on the go at the time, and they only sent one reminder email to our spammed to hell public email address just before christmas... so I was doing telehandler training when they turned up.

We now have a letter from RECC saying they're coming to do an inspection... joy.

Could be interesting though, I might have to take them on a tour of the building and ask them how come there are 2 solar sales companies in our office block who're not RECC registered yet employ 50 odd people on the phones cold calling people to sell solar PV.

And why they ignored entirely my email to them about that, yet think they should come and give us a load of hassle.
