Landlord has completely disregarded my EICR because it basically has resulted in multiple C1 and C2plus a plethora of fi c3 and general comments. He told me not to quote for remedial work as a friend would rewire it. Six weeks on and working next door the family came out assuming I was there to begin remedial work. Landlord has told them my testing showed no problems??? I know I’ve fulfilled my responsibilities as an inspector but feel the need to raise this as an issue with someone Local authorities not interested so is it worth involving HSE ? Someone’s going to be hurt

Maybe advise the tenants to request a copy from the landlord, but don't just give them a copy.

Why not?

I would definitely give them a copy..
Rather that than trying to repor it to the authorities.

If there is a fatality then you have done all that you can to protect the family that live in that death trap

If there is a fatality you will be one of the first persons arrested

And if you pull out the main fuse and simply walk off you will likely be in trouble for theft or criminal damage ?

I suppose you could put warning tape all over the fuse box and a sign saying ‘condemned do not use’ and take a picture of it

Rubbish. He's done his bit and presumably informed the landlord in writing in the strongest terms that it needs urgent remedial work.

What more can you do?

Giving a copy of the report to the tenant without permission from the client (landlord) leads you down a slippery path imo.

Ok.
So child gets electrocuted.
Landlord informs police that sparky Jon was last in there testing and told him all was ok.

What happens next?

No different than if a mechanic tells you , that you need new brakes but you drive off and 24 hours later plough through 10 people in the high street because your breaks failed

Is the mechanic liable for 10 fatalities?
