continuous bonding refers to using a single cable ,say, for gas and water, at the neares point to the CU, the cable should not be broken/joined as then mr plumber could , in the course of doing some work, disconnect the bond and thus lose the bond to both services. in your case, i see no problem with a " permanent" joint, so as to break the cable's continuity, it would have to be cut.
OK - great thanks guys for all the advice. It seems a bit of a grey area coming down to personal choice. Some whould crimp others wouldn't. I surpose it also comes down to the site and the situation you're in also.
As far as tests go, the only test to do is continuity once the earth has either been replaced or extended.
This may be a daft question, would you put any sleeving, heat shrink over the joint?
