Went to do a job today and asked the customer how old the CU was (as it only looked a few years old). She told me it was installed 5 years ago.
When I asked if she had any documentation, she rolled her eyes and said that the plumber who installed it (who claimed he was also a qualified electrician) had refused to give her any certificate after he had been paid.
She tried phoning him several times but eventually he blocked her number....
I was very impressed that even though there are 3 spare ways on the RCD side, he managed to put both RFC's on the main switch side....

Doing a bathroom at the moment in a house rewired during a major renovation about 7 years ago. Noticed the 16th edition board was a wickes one.......
Another early observation I made was that the cables behind sockets still had about 2 inches of sheath left on inside the backbox......always a bad sign
Sure you guys can guess the rest.....
No ring cont on any ring
Ring mains on non rcd side of board
Terminal block, unenclosed all over the gaff
No grommets
etc etc

I'd bet my right foot that the house was rewired by a builder

Don't tell me... No testing done and no certificates?
