went to job a couple of years ago to replace stolen 10mm. There were some pikeys squatting in a house across the road and one of them actually came up and told us hed be back for that when wed gone and were we doing any more houses in the area.
Police not interested and the customer had given up complaining.

There is no way I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from knocking him out.

I am seriously thinking of starting a pressure group to lobby the government about serious sentencing for this sort of thing. As has already been said, how long before some kid comes across the bare ands that they are leaving and POP. It makes me shudder to think.

:D the only human rights that concern me are the rights of the victims. especially in these instances. if your going to play lets steal some live cable you know what your playing with, the ones that don`t know are the poor sods walking past it or getting their houses blown to bits. arson can carry a life sentance even if no one os killed so maybe we should be threatening such sentences instead of some community pay back or such rubbish.ant over and I feel a whole load better now :D:D

I fully agree with you Phil. Its not just this crime that gets lenient penalties it is all crime. Until the courts start handing out the maximum sentences for all crimes, things won't get any better. But the courts wont give out harsh penalties cos the prisons are full. That is an easy fix though, build more prisons, we have to keep the scum of society somewhere, so lets keep them locked up in a cage instead of in social housing at an even bigger expense. Personally i would hang the b******s.

Cheers...........Howard

I think your totally wrong Howard prison is not the answer for these poor misguided members of society. After all taking away their freedom is not the answer.

Is there any recourse for locking a man up in a warm cell for 15 hours a day, with nothing but his television to watch, perhaps a few hours pleasure gained from his X box and then having to drag him out 3 times a day so he has to eat.

He will have to queue for the gym, and none of his washing will have softener put through it, and perhaps some of the government supplied clothing will have double creases in them !!!!

No I say enough is enough you can not rob a man of his dignity like this .............instead I would put them on a lovely island somewhere, north of the Artic circle, with just a tent, and once a day drop enough food to feed 50% of them ,and let them decide among themselves how it is distributed. Then every week drop some knock out gas, clean up the debris of those unlucky enough not get much food, and send the next lot in .................think we might find a rapid decrease in crime figures.

Honestly as I get older i get worse, I want Ken as my minister of justice.

Is it wrong that I thought 'Hmmm, that is a genuinely good idea'?

This has been a big issue in both electrical industries I've worked in.

Formerly the utility industry, new build sites were prime targets for cable theft! No doubt someone made a phonecall to the right people but we used to have to arrange for a site to be dug, pulled, jointed and backfilled the same day or all the cable would be gone by morning!

Big issue in my current industry, railway. So much gets nicked, even earthing bonds from cubicles has to be replaced every few months!

Inside a secured room at the Eagan Police headquarters is the charred and shredded evidence of a near fatal crime. There's not much left of a winter jacket, worn by a 33-year-old St. Paul man.
The alleged copper thief was burned by 69,000 volts of electricity, creating a flash of light in the early morning sky.
"There were also calls of a large flash of light seen from several miles away and a large boom," Eagan Officer Danielle Anselment said.
Police and paramedics responded to several 911 calls of a man who was on fire at the Dakota Electric power substation located in the 1700 block of Deerwood Drive at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Investigators said David Stachowiak, climbed onto a high-voltage power transformer, after cutting through the sub station's barbed wire topped chain link fence.
Evidence taken from the scene indicates that Stachowiak and possibly two other people were there to steal copper cable.
What doesn't make much sense is the motivation behind the crime. The recession has dropped scrap copper prices substantially. Dakota Electric estimates what the thieves could have made away with at little more than $100.
Other electric utilities are reporting a drop in copper thefts over the past year for that reason. Still, it's a danger at any price.
With a loud crackle and a bright arc, Dakota Electric's safety director demonstrates why.
"This would be electrical contact," said Kevin Fowler, showing the voltage that could occur.
He uses a cart with miniature overhead power lines to teach the dangers of a 12,000-volt electric shock.
The alleged copper thief took more than five times the amount of voltage, along with hundreds of amperes. Fowler said it likely created a ball of intense fire, six to eight feet across.
"It's essentially the same as being put in a microwave oven. It cooks you from the inside out and it will be a lifetime of pain and agony," he said.
Stachowiak was taken to Region's Hospital in St. Paul where he is being treated for severe burns to his torso. He is listed in stable condition.

theres another one in glasgow ruptured a gas pipe stealing copper piping someone IS goign to be killed by these money grabbing masterbators

Im off to a house in nottingham tomorrow. Me bonding cable on outside of house has been cut. Someone scared them off before they nicked it. Not sure weather im gonna re do it all in conduit(more for them to pinch.) or try and talk the customer into having floors up and run it inside. Bloody annoying.
