hi, I was going to answer, help a OPs question which had been redirected to the DIY section but i'm unable to as denied access. Is this right?

I wouldn't mind access my self actually as I've seen quite a few I could give sensible answers to, I acknowledge it's a DIY forum and understand what sort of advice is to be given and limitations as to people's abilities, and not to suggest anything that's dangerous to the unskilled.

Does anyone else think it is a kind of pointless section to have on the forum.
Hear me out 1st, surely as electricians the best advice we are ever going to give a diyer is to get an electrician in, I can't really see what's to be gained. Not meaning to be negative just thinking out loud!

Not a pointless section IMHO

It keeps numptie DIYers in a a place where limited people can help them - and some just want constructive input, into situations, rather than a kit list of parts to do us out of work.

Pros and cons. Never bother personally, but I can see both your points (so it can't be pointless).:smile5:

So it could be pointless then, not trying to sway you in anyway.
But I take Murdoch's point on board also!
