Hello all,

My customer has high ceilings in her workshop/office, 3.5m high. She is pretty exact in what she wants and would like uniformity with the other LED GU10/MR16 that she has.

She has asked for some GU10's that can be lowered by up to about 2m from the ceiling. I have seen plenty of rise and fall lighting options but none that have GU10's.

The total length of the area is 3.3m. She wants 5 x GU10's in a line. I think this could be compromised on though. Something like 2 separate strips of 3 or 4 lights.

Does anyone know of any such options out there?

Cheers all :)

Wow, this is harder than I was expecting.

Mist rise/fall lights are just for normal ceilings and you just reach up and pull the chord. This is a much higher ceiling. I have seen this https://rusticartistry.com/product/rustic-wood-beam-chandelier-rope-pulley/

which looks good, but if you wanted to add extra chains and a pulley in order to lower it, how would you attach the cable so that it safely drops also?

This is getting interesting!

I am not sure if there are rise and fall lights with GU10 lamps, though if the only requirement is compatibility with the other lamps then the adapter idea from Resu is sound.
Most rise and fall lights only fit within a narrow range of ceiling heights and are not suited to very high or low ceilings, the usual drop is roughly about 0.5 to 1.5m
You would need to assess the actual drop range required.
Is it required that the light fitting can be adjusted in height whilst in use and if so over what height range?
I would usually expect for a high ceiling that the light would simply be a pendant light that drops down to a normal lighting height.
Alternatively you could perhaps source a rise and fall bar and simply attach a GU10 pendant bar fitting to it, if you can find ones for which this would be suitable. A nice timber bar would be easy to fix to!

I would tell her to source her own rise & fall lights, and call you back when she's got some. Whatever you get, will be wrong!
I think you may be right Mid. Shes a very 'exact' woman.
Im going to ring some specialist lighting companies and get some ideas off of them, but I'm not feeling it's very likely that I'll be finding what is needed.

Wow found a five light GU10 LED rise and fall pendant!
It is only down to 1.5m, but does show lighting manufacturers will make any silly thing. tie a bit of string in the middle to adjust the height from the ground or you could go posh and use a tool lanyard; I am sure she will love it!
