Found these on a job today. Are they old lamp outlets ?

Extension speaker sockets. Sold by RS (then Radiospares). They are polarised by having one pin larger than the other. The matching plug was flat with a flex outlet at the back and pins that screwed down onto two washers to clamp the conductors. Two being together here suggests this was the source end, there might be identical sockets at the other end of those cables where the speakers were.

Ah Radio Spares, I have a catalogue of theirs somewhere well more a comic compared to nowadays.
A small time spares concern which has exploded into a worldwide name.

The appear to be low voltage sockets or for connecting Loudspeakers.

Zoom into the photo. Bare metal showing so can’t be mains voltage.
It’s been suggested these are for hi fi speaker wires

As per my post #4 they are definitely 'Radiospares' extension speaker sockets.

Definitely speaker cable, the sockets look like the 15 amp two pin sockets of the past when a protective earth not so important. The last time I saw one was in the fifties, but in brown.

Not so much like 15A but somewhere between 2A and 5A in overall size. The two pins are different sizes to provide polarisation, neither the plug nor socket are touchproof.
