This is the stuff that the boss allows in the house.... I've been allocated one ikea compartment for "my junk"

The rest is in a box in the loft. I'm still trying to sell the idea of an illuminated shelf in a display cabinet, but we've been married 24 years and it hasn't become a 'major decision' yet. (We have this arrangement where minor decisions are her department and major ones are mine. In fact I'm not sure there have been any major decisions yet....)

I might have a job lot of old test equipment in need of repair. That would constitute a major decision for you.

My dad used to work as a manager at S.E.I. in the 60's and 70's, it was a part of G.E.C. and they used to make all sorts of stuff like this, we had one of these at home as the main test instrument.

He was always bringing home weird electrical stuff that they made, telephone PCB's, big capacitors, rectifiers, stuff like that. I used to enjoy charging the big caps up as a kid and also unwinding the foil wound capacitors. I used to go to work with him on a Saturday occasionally and there would be lines and lines of machines with women sat on them doing stuff like winding capacitors. The place had a very gritty industrial smell to it you that just don't come across nowadays.
