Discuss Anyone any idea what this is behind plasterboard. Testing positive for AC current. Confused. in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net
Hi. Thanks, have came to same conclusion. Old house, top floor flat, very thick gable wall. Just dont get why it is testing AC current with 3 testers. Some form of lining for damp?
I can across same in an old house… walls were 3ft thick, no cavity. Same but a white/clear plastic.
Maybe not a good idea to puncture it.
Old house or below ground level room?
Hi, 2 non contact pens and also a metal and ac current handheld scanner of some sort i found in my garage. All 3 seem to work as i can trace cables running down walls to sockets and switches but on this one wall that appears to be lined with this stuff the whole wall causes a positive test for AC. Bit strange. What sort of testers?
I got a non contact to light up on a brick wall once… due to a screw and raw plug going through a buried twin and earth…. Shorting neutral to earth.
Was showing live on both sides of the wall.
