Just curious if anyone else uses Haeger CU's for domestic..?

Been having probs getting my usual MK, so have gone for a couple of Haegers this week, ended up being ÂŁ10/ÂŁ15 more than mk inc with vat and mcbs. Easily paid for itself with the time I saved.

Only really used Haeger on bigger commercial industrial stuff when subbing years ago, was always good back then

Well worth it sticking with them in future - loads of room, everything in the right place, solid as - no earth bar springing out or MCBs cracking if you tighten them up a little too much. Even the knock outs and labelling simples, not the slighest bit fiddley

Just thought I'd share that with you :39:

Right then...I've always fitted Wylex, in fact fitted one on Friday and two the week before. I do agree they are a bit flimsey and can be a nightmare to get the cover on but I can do them with my eyes shut and usually don't like change. I have a board change on Wednesday so think I will give Hagar a try then report back !!!

Do Senate stock Hagar??

Recently installed a hager board in my own home after comparing a few, feel much better put together than the MK in my previous home. Only minor complaint is that I have a 12 way unit with 11 circuits in it and there were no blanking plates provided to block off the extra one...

They cost about 60p and the ones that fit to the din rail are so much better than the surface-only ones.

Blanking plates? I had a spare MCB so currently use that ... will get a proper one at some point or may end up using that MCB for something in the future... Until then I have one confusing breaker that's always off ;)

Hager here too. I used to get Wylex all the time but tried the Hager and found it so much quicker to install. Also, i like the fact that the Hager's are more modular with a larger range of accessories and parts also.

Oh and i've moved onto Hager fittings as well for sockets and faceplates etc. Brilliant stuff at really good prices!

I know the internal spirit level is poor but why is it everyone that I see installed ( apart from the ones I put in obviously) aren't level!! , as far as I can see , it has it's own spirit level and therefore NO EXCUSE!!!!!!

I've fitted a couple that ended up like that. Did you put a level on the outside of the case? Sometimes the fitted one is a bit out, and as you only see it when the cover's off I prefer to have the case level rather than the internal bubble in the middle.

I had a call out last week to a Hager board (fitted 4yrs ago) not by us! that had a burnt out neutral bar.
See quite a few burnt out neutral connections but never is a CU so a first for me.

It was a factory connection in which I'm guessing that the original installer did not check the factory connections for tightness.
