Lads, I need some advice/help. The missus and I are moving to the Newcastle area for a number of reasons, one of which is she's got a job up there. We've found a house that seems to suit us price/location in comparison to her workplace, it's the one in Heatherwell Green Bridgfords estate agents Newcastle upon Tyne | Property for sale What I need to know is what the area's like? The house is fairly cheap, which could be for a couple of reasons but I don't know anything about the location. Anybody from the area? Or anyone who knows anything about it?

Fenham has two sides, one is nice and quiet and the other is like a hell hole. Iirc Wingrove Road is in the nice bit. It's not too far outside of the city centre and is well served by public transport. There's a hospital fairly close and some pubs which aren't bad at all.

As Trev says, Fenham (The Nam) can be hit and miss. if you want to be in that part of town for the hospitals or university, try Spittal Tongues, just across the road, well different villagey vibe, nice pubs, walking distance from toon centre.

I thought he meant the one in Heatherwell Green, Felling?

I've always thought Felling to be a dodgy area but where can you go to find a place that hasn't got a dodgy area these days?

Take the Lobley Hill area of Gateshead; the west side I think is ok, but I wouldn't even like to think about living in the east side. My builder mate is a big rough bloke and spent all of his life there, but has recently moved across to the west as it was getting too rough - even for him.
