Dear all in electricians forums!
I am looking to retrain as an electrician (domestic, self-employed), and have done lots of research towards what is needed. I am currently working with an electrician to learn the practical side of it, and will be going to college for the qualificaiton side.
However i am confused as to which CPS to join? I have phone NICEIC and ELECSA and have both given me conflicting information.
I would like to be able to certify my own work and other peoples work / old installations. However ELECSA said that this is illegal unless I have employed someone who works under my 'umbrella', and therefore can supervise what he/she is doing, but I am not allowed to certify other peoples work if they are not part of my company.
NICEIC said that as long as i feel that I am okay with putting my name and company on the certification papers, and therefore i am okay with being liable for prosecution if anything goes wrong, then this is ok and legal ??
Can anyone help clarify this or recommend any other CPS?
