Well, I asked for the serial number and the calibration date.

Anyone know what the format is for Fluke serial numbers on this type of product? he gave me a number but I want to know if it's in the right format

Apparently it was bought new in Sept 2009 and he hasn't had it calibrated as he's only used it twice!

Could be Eastern European? Would think that with nicked stuff they would prefer to post. The real dodgy ones offer to meet at the tube station of your choice - seen that with bicycles!

Just seven numbers on mine.

Just asked if he had the receipt - he didn't know what that was.

I explained and asked if that was included in the sale, to show where it was bought and for proof of age . He said he had, and that he would give it to me if i won the auction. (although not that clearly lol).

I reckon it probably is genuine - unless he managed to nick the invoice as well. ;)

he may be just saying that to get you to agree to buy and meet up would you go lol

He has put the info on the description now with a manufacture date and purchase date. The fact that you can test it and check out the receipt before you hand over your readies makes me think it is pretty safe. I must admit i tend to give people the benefit of the doubt though.

a lot of "jumping on the band wagon " here.....

The main issue is FLUKE not having a stolen register etc like Rolex offer etc . And also not adding a simple password etc to turn the machine on etc

Fluke seem to have no wish to offer any form of security for such a expensive item

I can print off a quick receipt from Testmeter.co.uk or wherever. All you need is Word and a printer.

When I had the shops, this nobhead was in there all the time going on about the scams he had. One was because there were loads of empty houses on a nearby estate, he got catalogue items sent to these addresses, then on the delivery day, took a deckchair and sat in the front garden. 'Oh, is that for me mate? Yea, of course I'll sign for it'.....

So who's to say this fella isn't doing the same. 'Yep, this is my house, it's all above board. I'm just doing a spot of gardening.'

That's what I would do, if I was a grifter.

Resetting the Fluke to factory defaults.........Should you buy it.

I had been working at a new build site, was a nice big house out in the countryside for a "flush" family, was out at the van one day and a delivery van (for a large delivery company that also owns shops and begins with an "A") pulled up at the side of the single track road, nearest village 4 miles away and nearest town 25 miles away, now this was to be a holiday house for 2 Doctors and their kids, and they had demolished a perfectly good bungalow that was there before and were putting a brand new house there twice as big, they were only ever there a few weeks every year....the delivery man said "oh youre not the usual person, can you sign for this" and I said no, it was not in the doctors names and I wasnt informed.....I told him where they were renting a house in the nearby town, gave him their mobile number and the Postcode for his GPS and told him to go and speak to them about the deliveries, he told me that this was the third washing machine in 7 months he had been out there with and that there was loads of furniture delivered before as well.
When we spoke to the property owners they said that they had a few strange deliveries turn up before and the man had written to the company to tell them to refuse to deliver there again as he wouldnt be using them for anything himself, about 20 minutes after we sent the delivery man back into town we heard some people speaking, looked up and there were 3 people leaning over the driveway gate staring at us, they stood there for about 3 or 4 minutes, one of them took a photo of us with her phone (2 men and a woman) then a grey car pulled up and they all jumped in and sped off...
Looks like somebody was using that address relying on the fact that it was out in the middle of nowhere with no other houses nearby...then one day the delivery arrived when there were workmen there that they didn't expect..
