anyone heard of MTB

hi guys
i was contacted to day by company MTB master trade builders.
the told me they have lots of work for me and to jion them i must give them £250.00
this done they will give me lots of work and take a commison paid by me when ive been paid by he client they provide.
the commison is between 4% and 2.5% or so.
now normally i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole(or yours) or anyone else that wants money up front.
however they have a ok web site..the phone numbers check out ect ect so i thought id run it past you guys.
if they are kosha then im sure one of you must know about them.
my gut feeling is its a scam for my £250.00...

what do you all think.

if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.anyone could have a website that looks good,keep your barge pole well away!!

Much the same as the companies that offered to "introduce buyers" for your car for you and take a commission on the sale...but you had to pay them £75 upfront.

Of course they have a nice website, it's been paid for buy suckers who fell for it and then never received anything in return.

it was a woman who called but she sounded like she looked like that!
maybe one of thier advrtised companys is known to some of you....
did think of paying them with a credit card and then dissputing the payment when no work shows up.

There was a thread on this very lot a week or so ago - search the forums for the thread.

Consensus was, scam, same as most of the others. This lot wanted a couple of hundred quid for nothing, ISTR, and then money for every fifty quid job they pass to you.

Spend the money on promoting your website with SEO etc.

Once you let these "middle men" control you it is downhill after that I would spend your £250 improving your website because I feel you set up to be self employed to control your own destiny not hand it over to someone trying to play the margins and when it goes as they say P-Tong they are the first to say well sort it we just manage you

yes paid the £250.00 a month ago and recieved the confirmation, however no response untill today. Guess what, they tried to sell me it again, this time with a not so slick sales lady.

I think it is a scam.

Sorry to hear that... im sure a lot of people get done like this, especially when things are tight... but can we say, once and for all, IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR MONEY UPFRONT WITH A PROMISE OF REGULAR WORK, IT IS A SCAM. There's nothing to consider, it's a scam. Scam scam scam. Any chance of having this written in big red letters above the forum, mods?
