Somewhere I can get hold of a new/second hand one of these......

It's a manual star-delta changeover switch off of a woodworking machine.

It's cooked itself so when the isolator is switched on, even with the switch in the off position voltage is present at the motor and it tries to turn.

I've searched high and low for a replacement and drawn a blank. ABB do a simlar type of switch but it would mean mullering the machine housing to fit it.

The only other option I came up with is to fit a new star-delta starter fixed to the wall behind & to the left of the machine but this means a lot of work and more importantly cost to the client that they're not keen on!

I've enclosed pic's so if anyone has/knows of one let me know please.

Cheers.

Lenny,
You did not come back to me so I did not look today!
I will look tomorrow as I am there at some point modifying a pulley for a customer.
I did take one off an SCM a few years ago when I changed the control over to automatic y/d and dc braking.
It was an early Windor IIRC.
I'll look tomorrow but I need to be able to get in touch if I have it to arrange collection.
You have saidd but can't remember where you are in rlation to me.
I can get you a new original if you need it, if I can't find my old one or it is of a slightly different type.

BTW are you in the firing line if this machine is non compliant after your repair?
Coz it may well be at the moment.

TBH I'd like to totally update the machine with new auto y/d starting, additional em stops, additional DC braking etc etc, but.....the company I'm doing it for are tighter than a ducks backside and aren't willing to spend anymore than is absolutely neccessary.

Other than H&S obligations and adherence to PUWER 98 are you aware of any other statutory documents that I can refer to to try and convince them that standards need raising to keep operatives safe???

Cheers.

Lenny,
You need no more than MHSWR & PUWER98.
These are STATUE law, if they do not comply with these, the director that signs the company H&S policy can go to jail, loose his house and the company can be fined to an unlimited amount.
Comparing 7671 to these it is like a chocolate fireguard!

IF you cannot get them to update the machine you need to advise them in recorded written manner, that as far as you are aware the machine is not compliant and they need specialist advice, then you pass them my way! ;)
Coz, I can give them the H&S consultancy they need, I have the quals & PL/PI and, the specialist experience in the wood processing sector.
Oh and you could chuck DSEAR in too!!!
That is apart from BE2 in 7671.

BTW, and not being off with you, not sure if you know, the machine must not be wired to comply with 7671, if it is to be updated then the control system must be designed and constructed to comply with PUWER98 and 60204, etc.
You would also need PL & PI to cover you for the design.
I can do that too! ;) ;) ;)
Last point, is the machine CE marked?
That has a BIG influence on what you can and can't do to the machine and stay compliant with statute law.

If you want to take this further PM is probably best.
