Hi guys got myself a KT65 and although instructions state PSC is two lead and PFC is 3 lead i seem to be getting odd results... been used to using MFT soo....anyway 3 questions

1.
Have i got this correct.
PSC. 2 lead - across LINE/NEUTRAL incomer supply.

PFC . 3 lead - across LINE/NEUTRAL incomer with green + blue lead clipped together on Neutral

h

2.
Funny thing is on PSC doing exact same test twice over i get a reading of 1837amps then i done again and got 2.04Ka....Does the kewtech only read KA after the 2000amp mark? and why would i get such a different reading testing 2mins later same test.

3.
Also friend mentioned to me i should test PSC with all breakers off but main switch on and test at bottom of main switch as to see that switch is man enough so to speak.
i have never been taught this way, always just done at top of switch on incoming terminals.

any thoughts

P.s just edited this as realise i had made error regard what i wrote on 3 leads

thanks guys

Hi Mr robinson

normaly you get a 2 lead tester and then a 3 lead tester seems strange your meter does both !! I use a robin kts 1620 which is simular to your model and its a 3 lead tester for both psc and pfc .Testing psc i probe incomer line and join earth and neutral lead together and conect to neutral incomer . when testing pfc i probe line ( on incomer ) and join neutral and earth leads together and crock clip to earth bar !! sometimes i test clipping direct to the neutral and earth bars but of cause as you stated main ccu isolator will have to be on ( closed ) others may disagree

ps
i use 2 leads for continuity and I/R only .

THanks Rich ....I think om getting confused, as like you i supprised it does both 2 lead and 3 lead...I have sent link to manual ....if you have time take a look and see if you see what i see......saying loop/psc/rcd 2 lead....and loop/pfc 3 lead....

so with that in mind im doing .....2 lead on incomer L/N main switch ON but breakers off PSC ...then 3 lead Green/N croc to earth bar(in board) and brown lead to Line Incoming with main switch ON

this seem right to you?

here the link

i use 2 leads for continuity and I/R only .

Mr robinson
Looking at the instructions for your meter it seems that do do pfc and psc it states that you connect to the earth bar ( green lead ) conect to the neutral bar ( blue lead) and probe the line at the incomer ( ccu isolator ) make sure you have selected the right mode before testing. the 2 lead is for testing neutral earth loop or line earth loop .please note not all testers work the same way that is why it is important to read all the instructions correctly you have a warning buzzer which will go if you connect up wrong warning you before you press the test button

hope that helps !!

thanks Rich yes it does help LOTS....i have read and read but for some reason not read in way you have what page was it you got this ? so i can double double check this....SO as your sayin i just keep leads connected as stated brwn on Line green on earth and blue on neut bar...for both psc and pfc....cool

So what about a ZE....i was doing as disconnect main earth....green and blue crocs together on the cable and brown lead to line incoming....dont tell me i got this wrong too..hahahahahah

Hi Robinson

I have a Kewtech KT64 which i think is almost the same.
for psc i use 2 leads on line/neutral
for pefc i use 2 leads on line/neutral and green lead on earth
highest reading i take as my pfc.

hope this helps

hahahah yes this helps to
o but getting confused now.....So you saying the when meter set to PFC you use all 3 leads green on earth block in board and L/N on incoming tails..

when set to PSC you take earth lead out of equation and use 2 leads from L/N tester to just L/N incoming tails and take the highest reading of to ...

this what i was doing......

Do you find you readings change though if you done exactly same test couple few times over..is this becasue cycle?

OK what an idiot, so you know what i have read and read the manual to the tester but i have obviously NOT READ it...clear as a bell Page 34 step by step..CANT BELEIVE I just read over this.....thanks guys so to waste your time

Check the clearance between the back panel and/or terminal cover that you've removed. Look for small burn marks.
