Appliance isolation

Hi guys, doing a kitchen refurb and all appliances are built into units. One wall in particular has no work tops and has built in cooker, microwave, fridgeand freezer. Can I just put sockets behind the appliances (on the ring) or do I need to be able to isolate

you can, but it's not good practice. accessible isolation is preferred. you don't want to be knocking out the RFC to isolate a dishwasher (which appliances should be banned if they don't wear a skirt)

You will need to find a way to isolate. Especially with built in units. The last thing you (or the next person) will want is to have to take an integrated appliance out of its housing etc because it has got a problem. You may need to do this in an emergency or if a fuse blows. Some integrated things are PIGS to get in and out.

Cooker isolation will need to be within 2metres of the appliance in any case.
I would suggest a central grid switch/fuse arrangement with flex outlet plates behind each appliance.

EDIT: Many appliances are quite deep and you may find that there just is not the room to get a plug and socket on the wall behind a unit.
