Hi Guys
Could anyone tell me how much on average apprentices get paid ?
i have just spoke to a guy, who is wanting my CV, but as i'm 35 years old, i need to weigh up whats best to do, as i have a family to support, also how long would the apprentiship last? would i have time to have a second job ?
if anyone could give me some answers i would be very greatful.

Kind regards
Wayne:)

Hi Wayne, when i started my apprenticeship i was 18/19 and was paid 100 quid a week for the first 9 months or so and then it went up to about 6.50 per hour

it depends on your abilities really, the better you are the more you will be paid but for the initial few months i wouldnt expect a lot of dough.

also an apprenticeship will last a minimum of 3 years and you would be unlikely to fit in a second job in my opinion.

Bloody Hell, I am 33 and just starting college in the evenings to re-train and change career, I hope in two years time when qualified albeit with no experience the money will be better than £100 quid a week?

Your thoughts appreciated

You can't qualify in two years.

i started mine at 21 in 2000, on £120 a week.... with 2 kids.... had to work a secound job... its possible! good luck

How long did it take you mate. Are you doing well now. Was it worth it?

At 16 I started my apprenticship at an engineering training centre for the first year and my wages were£48 a week

but my Birthday is in October so I got a payrise on my Birthday upto £52 a week

apprenterships are normally 4 years

A few months back I was being paid £50 per day and £80 for a saturday. I also once a month done an emergency lighting test for them where I got paid £80 for 25 minutes work + 1 hour and a bit driving there and back (they paid for fuel).

Now I'd be willing to work for £40 a day plus they pay travel/fuel. I do have most of my own tools. Could do with a decent battery 24V drill. but that will have to hold for now.

Good luck mate. It's possible, maybe try to get some little private jobs to do on Sundays? Obviously sticking to regs and what work you are allowed to do.
